What is Socialism?
Socialism is a political and economic system in which the state owns and controls the means of production, distribution, and exchange. It can also be defined as an economic and political system in which there is the existence of public enterprise for the benefit of all.
The theory of socialism was pronounced by Karl-Marx (a German (1818-1883)), and Friedrich Engels (also a German (1820-1895)) and was first practised in Russia, and at one time or the other, this system was also practised by China, Romania, Poland, Ethiopia, Tanzania, etc. Socialism was pronounced as a result of the negative effect of capitalism.
The two main types of Socialism are Democratic Socialism and Marxian or Authoritarian Socialism.
