  • The fascist government controls the means of propaganda in the state.
  • The fascist regime controls the means of production and exchange.
  • A fascist government believes in violence and force.

 

2. Discuss the demerits of fascism.

  • The fascist government is violent and forceful
  • The system is very undemocratic
  • The system thrives through lies and propaganda spread by the state.
  • A fascist government does not submit to international laws and regulations.
  • The fascist regime believed in war as a means to achieve peace and development.

 

3(a) Define feudalism

Answer: Feudalism is a medieval political system based on hierarchy and ownership and control between the lords and the vassals.

(b) Enumerate the demerits of feudalism.

Answer:

  • Feudalism is highly authoritarian.
  • The system is based on the exploitation and oppression of the poor in society.
  • The system exalts private rights of ownership over public ownership.
  • The system promotes social division into classes.
  • The system promotes a weak central government as the landowners are the real ones who are powerful.

 

4. State the features of feudalism.

Answer –

  1. The system is based on hierarchical land ownership in society.
  2. There are societal classes in the system.
  3. The system emphasizes the great gulf in the various societal classes.
  4. Political rights and titles are based on land ownership.
  5. The landlords exercise governmental powers over the vassals.

 

5 (a) Define totalitarianism

Answer: Totalitarianism is defined as a form of government where the government controls all aspects of the citizens’ lives.

(b) What are the features of totalitarianism?

Answer:

  • The State controls every aspect of the citizen’s life.
  • The political leader exercises all political powers.
  • The system is based on the use of force.
  • There is no independence of the judiciary in a totalitarian state.
  • There is no respect for human rights in a totalitarian state.

 

6. Why is totalitarianism unpopular?

Answer: Totalitarianism is unpopular because it comes with so many negative attributes which negate the civilisation of this present age.
