  • Features of Prose Fiction

The basic features of prose fiction are subject matter, plot, theme setting, character and characterization, point of view and diction. All these taken together create complete literary work.

1.    Subject Matter:

This refers to the story of a work of art. It consists of major incidents in the work and revolves around the central idea of the work. In other words, it is a summary of any prose fiction.

2.    Plot:

This is the sequence of events that drives the story forward in fictional prose. It always involves conflict between different characters or characters and events. In some cases, such conflicts are between characters and themselves.
