Meet The Poet:

maya angelou

Marguerite Annie Johnson Angelou (Maya Angelou) was born on 4th April, 1928, and experienced a difficult childhood growing up. In spite of this, she rose to become one of the foremost African American poets and authors. She married a South African freedom fighter and lived in many parts of the continent of Africa before her death on May 28, 2014.
