The Narrator:
He is the protagonistthe leading character or one of the major characters in a play, film, novel, etc. More, narrator and unnamed hero of the novel. He is a black man who lives in a forgotten basement of a building which houses only whites. He recounts the events that led him to make a decision to live alone underground in what he calls a hole; he asserts his invisibility and understands that he is an invisible man because people simply refuse to see him because he is black.
