- Definition of Multiplication Inverse
What is Multiplication Inverse?
The multiplication inverse of a number p is a number q such that pq = 1. The symbol for the inverse of p is \( \scriptsize p^{-1} \; or \; \normalsize \frac {1}{p}\)
Also, the multiplicative inverse of 5 is \(\frac{1}{5} \scriptsize \; because \; 5 \; \times \; \normalsize \frac{1}{5} \scriptsize = 1 \)
As well as the inverse of \( \frac{3}{4}\scriptsize \; is \; \normalsize \frac{4}{3} \)
