- Equivalent Angles

These are angles in different quadrants but with the same magnitude or value. They could be negative or positive, acute, obtuse, or reflex. For angles negative or greater than 360º, such angles are resolved by **subtracting 360º** when greater or **adding 360º** when it is negative.

### Example 5.2.1:

Given the angles below:

(i). Decide the quadrant

(ii). Express its equivalent where applicable **(a)** 288º **(b)** -293º **(c)** 191º^{ }**(d) **167º **(e)** 635º **(f)** 490º **(g) **-610º

**Solution**

(a.i) 288º – **4 ^{th} quadrant**

(a.ii) 288º = -72º

(b.i) This is less than 0º, so we add 360º
