This is a method of heat transfer in fluids by the actual movement of particles or molecules from one point to another. This occurs mostly in fluid (liquid and gas).

convection
Convective heat transfer.

When water is heated from a container, it is observed that it is the lower part of the container that is closer to the source of heat that gets hot faster than the upper part. This is because the particles or molecules at the lower part of the container acquire energy from the source of heat and become lighter and can move to the upper part, while the colder ones at the liquid surface replace the higher ones,

The heated molecules move in a circular pattern, thereby setting up a convection current until the liquid starts boiling.
