What is Diffusion?

Diffusion is defined as the movement of molecules of substances from a region of higher concentration to a region of lower concentration of the molecules.

Diffusion occurs in all the states of matter; solid, liquid, and gaseous states. Diffusion is driven by concentration gradient which tends to adjust the component concentration until equilibrium is established.
