In Mass-mass calculation, one mass is given and another mass is to be determined.
Example 6.3.1:
Calculate the mass of calcium oxide formed when 1.5 g of calcium is completely burnt in oxygen [Ca = 40, O = 16]:
Solution:
2Ca[s] + O2[g] → 2CaO[s]
Molar mass of Ca = 40
RMM of CaO = 40 + 16 = 56
2 moles of Ca[s] ⇒ 2 moles of CaO[s]
2 × 40 g of Ca[s] ⇒ 2
