Topic Content:

  • Haber Process [Industrial Manufacture of Ammonia]
  • Contact Process [Industrial Manufacture of Tetraoxosulphate(VI) Acid]

All the factors affecting equilibrium position are taken into consideration in industry i.e. temperature, concentration and pressure. This is in order to obtain high yield of product within a short time.

1. Haber Process [Industrial Manufacture of Ammonia]

\( \scriptsize \underset{1\;vol}{N_{2(g)}} + \underset{2\;vols}{3H_{2(g)}} \; \leftrightharpoons \; \underset{2\;vols}{2NH_{3(g)}} \) ΔH = -92.0KJ

The following factors and conditions are considered in order to obtain a high yield of ammonia

i. Concentration of Hydrogen and Nitrogen is maintained at a ratio of 3:1.
