Topic Content:
- Structure of Water
Water is formed when two atoms of hydrogen and one atom of oxygen are covalently bonded together.
\( \scriptsize 2H_{2(g)} \;+\; O_{2(g)} \; \rightarrow \; 2H_20_{(l)} \)
The structure of water is V-shaped and the bond angle is 105°C. This is because the two bond pairs are brought about by the repulsion of two lone pairs of electrons.
