  • Organic Chemistry – Introduction

Organic chemistry is the study of organic compounds of carbon.

These carbon-containing compounds studied under organic chemistry exclude the oxides of carbon and trioxocarbonate(IV) and all the other inorganic compounds of carbon.

Organic chemistry plays a central role in our lives. Most of the materials that we encounter and use today are organic compounds. Soaps and detergents, insecticides, perfumes, plastics, carpets and rugs, textiles, methane, and methanol are all organic compounds.
