Traditional Means of Communication

There are many traditional means of conveying information in Nigeria. Though it varies from one place to another. The major ones are;

1. Talking Drum: The beating of drums can be used to pass information across to the people of a community. The sound of the drum conveys meaningful information to the entire population.

2. Town criers: They carry information or messages on behalf of the head of the community from one place to another.

3. Palm fronds: Symbolic objects such as palm fronds can be used to convey messages and information on peace or war and mutual understanding as the case may be.

4. Blast of a Gun: Gun blasts are signals used to pass information on the death of an important personality and also during traditional festivals.
