TITLE: HIV / AIDS

TEXT: New Oxford Secondary English Course for SSS 2 pages 86-87

Read the passage carefully and answer the questions on it.

  1. The disease has killed many people.

2. Nobody knows precisely the origin of HIV/AIDS.

3. The popular misconception is that AIDS is contracted through having indiscriminate sexual relationships.

4. Three ways of contracting HIV/AIDS are mentioned in the passage:

  • through sexual relationships.
  • through the blood of a victim in a barbing saloon.
  • through the transfusion of the blood of a victim.

5. One can avoid contracting HIV/AIDS by abstaining from sex, faithfulness to one’s spouse, and avoiding premarital sex.

6. The expression shows that AIDS is spreading very fast.
