The Impact of Mass Media In Nigeria cannot be underestimated. It includes the following:

(i) It creates diversity in communication. There are various mediums through which information can be dispersed to the people.

(ii) It makes it possible for information from other parts of the world to reach people in Nigeria with ease, within the shortest possible time.

(iii) The Mass Media widens people’s knowledge not only of what happens around us but all over the world.

(iv) Mass Media is the easiest and fastest medium by which information reaches people. Even politicians use it to mobilize support.

(v) Government activities, Programmes, and Policies are made known to the public through the Mass Media. It is a link between the government and the people.

(vi) Government mobilizes people’s support for its activities and policies through the Mass Media.

(vii) It helps the information of public opinion as expressed views discussions, debates of various political associations, Civil Societies, Pressure groups, Political, Religious leaders, etc. help to form public opinion.

(viii) It has helped to check the excesses of the government

(ix) The needs of the people are made known to the government.
