- Gas Thermometer
A constant-volume gas thermometer consists of a bulb containing a gas (Hydrogen or Helium). The bulb is usually connected by a narrow glass tube tubing to a mercury manometer.
In setting up, if the mercury levels are equal the volume of gas in the bulb will be equal to the atmospheric pressure.
When the bulb is heated, the gas in the bulb expands, forcing the mercury down tube B and up tube A.
