Topic Content:

  • Meaning of Evaporation
  • Factors Affecting Evaporation
  • Molecular Explanation of Evaporation
  • Cooling by Evaporation

Evaporation is a process of a substance in a liquid state changing to a gaseous state (vapour), below its polling point. It occurs at all temperatures.

Factors Affecting Evaporation:

Factors affecting the evaporation of a substance include:

1. Temperature: The rate of evaporation increases with temperature.

2. Pressure: The greater the pressure, the slower the rate of evaporation.

3. Surface Area: As the surface area of liquid increases, the rate of evaporation also increases.
