Noise and Music:

Noise is an unwanted sound because it is unpleasant to the ear. It is produced by the sound of irregular frequency.

Music is a sound of regular frequency and pleasant to the ear.

Tone and Note:

Tone: A pure sound of a single frequency is called tone.

Note: An impure sound produced by a mixture of many frequencies is called a note. For example, A musical note has tones of various frequencies.

Tones of higher frequencies other than fundamental frequencyThe fundamental frequency, f0, often referred to simply as the fundamental, is defined as the lowest frequency of a periodic waveform, producing its simplest and most basic sound. More are known as overtones .

Characteristics of Musical Notes:

Musical instruments produce notes and the notes produced depend on the type of musical instruments. They are differentiated from each other by pitch , loudness and quality .

Pitch:

Pitch is a characteristic of a note which enables one to differentiate a high note from a low note. A source that vibrates at high frequency will produce a high pitch and vice versa.
