Many factors contribute to the balance in nature. These factors can be classified as abiotic and biotic factors.

• Biotic factors include food, parasitism, competition, mortality (death rate), natality (birth rate), predators, parasites, and pathogens.

• Abiotic factors include temperature, light, water, air, and space.

In an ecosystem, plants and animals are constantly interacting with one another thereby producing
