Definition: This is the spreading of fruits and seeds away from parents so as to settle where the conditions are favourable for germination.
Importance of Dispersal of Fruits and Seeds:
Dispersal of fruits and seeds is important in the following ways:
1. It prevents overcrowding of plants.
2. It encourages afforestationAfforestation is the establishment of a forest or stand of trees (forestation) in an area where there was no recent tree cover. More as plants grow and colonize new areas.
3. It reduces competition among plants for water, space, light, and nutrients.
4. It reduces the spread of diseases among crowded plants.
