Organ of Touch – Skin:
The skin is the largest organ in the body, covering its entire external surface. It is related to the sense of touch. The sense of touch is also referred to as tactioception.
In the mammalian skin, there are many sensory receptors for detecting several stimuli like touch, pressure, pain, cold and heat, unlike other sense organs which detect one type of stimulus each.
Key Structures of the skin include:
- Epidermis: The outer layer
