Natural gas is liquefied under pressure to obtain liquefied natural gas, (LNG). LNG is a colourless, odourless, non-toxic gas which is predominantly used as domestic gas for cooking and heating. It may also be used as transportation fuel in special engines.

Uses of Liquefied Natural Gas:

1. As domestic and industrial fuel. Natural gas burns completely leaving no ash and forming no CO(g) and so it is a valuable fuel.

2. It is a source of hydrogen and carbon.

3. It may also be used as transportation fuel in special engines.

4. It is used in production of synthetic gas.
