West African Clearing House (WACH) was established on 14th March, June 1975 with its headquarters in free town, Sierra Leone. It comprises 10 member central Banks of West African State.
Membership includes the Central Bank of West African States (representing
Benin, Burkina Faso, Cote d’Ivoire, Mali, Niger, Senegal, and Togo) as well
The Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mauritania, Nigeria,
and Sierra Leone.
Objectives of West African Clearing House (WACH)
1. To promote trade liberalization
2. To ensure monetary cooperation among the member states
3. To allow savings in the use of foreign reserves
4. It ensures the easy exchange of currency between members
