It was formed in November 1978, as a result of a split that took place in NPP. The founder, Ibrahim Waziri, disagreed with others in NPP over the post of Party Chairman and Presidential flag bearer.

Objectives of Great Nigeria People’s Party (GNPP):

  • To win Political Power and form government in Nigeria.
  • To promote and sustain the unity of Nigeria, uphold her territorial integrity and defend her independence and sovereignty.
  • To work for equal opportunities for all Nigerians to participate in every facet of national life and development with a view to
