All Progressive Congress (APC) was formed on the 6th of February 2013 by the merger of CAN, Congress for Progressive Change, All Nigeria Peoples Party and a faction of APGA. After the merger, some minority parties later joined APC. African Peoples Congress, All Patriotic Citizens and the new PDP also joined APC. The party had a strong base in Northern and Western Nigeria.

The Aims and Objectives of APC include:
- To promote and foster unity, political stability and national consciousness among the people of Nigeria.
- To promote true federalism in Nigeria.
- To establish branches of the party all over Nigeria.
