Definition: A histogram consists of rectangular bars with no gaps in between them, a histogram usually has a continuous scale. Histogram can have equal or unequal width intervals. Generally, the area of a bar is proportional to its corresponding frequency. However, for a histogram with equal class width intervals, the height of each bar represents the frequency for its class interval.
FREQUENCY POLYGON
Definition: A frequency polygon is obtained by marking the mid-points of the top line of each bar, then join these points in order with straight lines. To form a complete polygon, it is done by extending the first and the last points to the horizontal axis at the mid-point of an imaginary bar. When these extensions are added, the area of the polygon is equal to the area of the histogram.
