  • Stationary Points & Turning Points

The turning point of any curve or parabola is the point at which its direction changes from upward to downward or vice-versa.

Turning points are also called stationary points .

A point on a curve at which \( \frac{dy}{dx} = \scriptsize 0 \)is called a stationary point and the value of the function represented by the curve at that point is called its stationary value.

At such a point, the tangent is parallel to the x-axis.
