- Permanent Magnet
Temporary magnets are magnets that do not retain their magnetism for a long time once the source of magnetism is removed, the magnetism in the magnet also disappears. E.g. iron, mu-metal.
Permanent magnets retain their magnetism for a long time after the magnetic force is removed. Such magnets are made from materials like steel, alcomax, ticonal, cobalt and nickel because they do not lose their magnetism easily.
