Lateral Meristem is a type of meristematic tissue comprised of meristematic cells in the lateral areas of a plant and is associated with lateral growth. Meristems help in increasing the thickness of the plants. Good examples of lateral meristematic tissue are the vascular cambium and the cork cambium.
