microorganism

Microbes are organisms that are too small to be seen without using a microscope. They include organisms like bacteria, archaea, and single-cell eukaryotes (organisms whose cells have a nucleus e.g. amoeba or paramecium). Viruses can be called microbes too.

How do Microbes Affect Agriculture?

Soil microbial activity is an indicator of soil quality. Plants rely on soil microorganisms to mineralize organic nutrients for growth and development.

Pathogenic microorganisms will decompose root nodules which reduces the efficiency of nutrient uptake and mobilisation, further leading to nutrient deficiency and stunted plant growth.
