God and You – Getting to Know God Yourself

There is so much information about God around us from different pastors and churches, to Christian programs on television and online and even online Christian channels on various social media platforms.

Access to so much information is great, but it can also make us lazy in terms of searching for God and learning about God ourselves.

Since there are so many different channels of information, a lot of them are uncertified commentators, so some information about God is bound to be incorrect.

This is why it is important for you find out about God and build a relationship with God yourself.

The only way to find out about God is to read the Bible.

2 Timothy 3 verse 16 says;

All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. (NLT)

2 Timothy 3:16

When you read and study the Bible, you get to learn about God and what His Word really says. You are also able to discern out of the millions of Christian messages and teachings that come your way, what is truly about God and what is not. You are able to see or know which channels and preachers are really spreading God’s message and those who are misleading the masses, and teaching God’s Word their own way.

These are more reasons to study God’s Word, that is, the Bible;

  • When you study God’s Word, you are able to achieve spiritual success.

Spiritual success means achieving a deep sense of purpose, inner peace and connection with God. You are able to grow and transform and become the person God created you to be. You are also able to live your life content and full of gratitude. You are able to live morally and ethically according to God’s Word. You can be your true, authentic self, and you do not have to wear many faces.

Joshua 1 verse 8 (KJV) says;

This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

Joshua 1:8
  • The Bible is definitely not just a book; it is LIVING, God’s Word transforms and shapes (literally carves) us over time to be more like Him.

Hebrews 4 verse 12 (NLT)

For the Word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.

Hebrews 4:12
  • Being a Christian is not just something to say; it is about trusting God and knowing that whatever happens in our lives, whether it is good or bad, it is all a part of God’s plan for us. To do this, we need to trust and have faith in God. We grow in faith and trusting God by reading and studying the Word. Faith and Trust are born and grow only through studying the Word.

Romans 10 verse 17 (NIV)

Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the Word about Christ.

Romans 10:17
