Shift System to be maintained as Lagos Schools Resume for Second Term

Shift System

The government has reiterated that the shift system which was introduced last year will be maintained as schools in Lagos State resume activities today 18th January 2021.

The shift system was introduced to help stop the spread of Coronavirus in Lagos.

The shift system involves students in SS1 and JS3 classes going to school on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, while those in SSS 2 and JSS 2 go on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

At the primary school level, the pupils were divided into two categories with the first set to go to school on Mondays and Wednesdays and for about three hours on Friday morning.

The other set attends school on Tuesdays and Thursdays and for three hours on Friday afternoon.

Sources in the Ministry of Education disclosed that the aim of the system is to keep large gatherings to a minimum and enforce social and physical distancing as part of the measures to stem the spread of COVID-19.
