    According to Svante Arrhenius ,acid is a substance which, when dissolved in water produces hydrogen ions as the only positive ion.

    Base is a substance which neutralizes an acid to yield salt and water only.

    While, salt is a compound derived from an acid by replacing part of the ionizable hydrogen contained in the acid by a ammonium ions.
