#### Topic Content:

• Solving Logarithmic Equations – Further Examples

### Example 5.5.1:

Solve the following equations:

a. $$\scriptsize 2^{2x-3} \: – \: 3 \; \times \: 2^x \: \times \: 16 = 0$$

b. $$\scriptsize 3^{2x} \: – \: 8 ({3^{x -2})} \: – \: 73 = 0$$

Solution a:

$$\scriptsize 2^{2x-3} \:- \: 3 \; \times \: 2^x \: \times \: 16 = 0$$

⇒ $$\frac{2^{2x}}{2^3} \: – \: \scriptsize 3(2^x) \: + \: 16 = 0$$

⇒ $$\frac{2^{2x}}{8} \: – \: \scriptsize 3(2^x) \: + \: 16 = 0$$

Multiply both sides by 8
