Principle of Operation of Hand Pump:
This machine is generally known as the bicycle pump. It is often referred to as a positive displacement pump. Positive displacement pumps have a plunger and a cylinder. The plunger is enclosed within the cylindrical barrel and at one end of the barrel, there is a nozzle.
In using the pump, all you need to do is to pull and push the plunger. The displacement of the piston (plunger) results in massive suction of air into the designed cylindrical container. At the forward stroke, the air is pushed out through the nozzle thereby inflating any material it was attached to such as a football, balloon, or tyre.
