Meaning of Warehouse

Warehouse is a place or store where goods are kept until they are needed.

Types of Warehouse

1. State Warehouse: This is a Government Warehouse where seized goods are kept until they are sold. These goods are referred to as contraband goods which are later auctioned to the public.

2. Manufacturer Warehouse: This warehouse is near the factory and it is owned and equipped by the producer. It enables the manufacturer to produce goods ahead of demand.

3. Wholesaler Warehouse: This warehouse is owned and managed by the wholesaler for storing a wide range of products purchased from various producers. It helps wholesalers sell products in large quantities to many different retailers and distributors.

4. Bonded Warehouse: This warehouse is built or made available by the government for the customs in order to store goods whose duties are yet to be paid. It is a temporary place for storage of dutiable goods. It is under the supervision of the custom authority.

5. Public Warehouse: This type of warehouse is owned and managed by individuals or firms who rent it out to others for keeping their goods. It is mostly located near the seaport or airport.
