The evolution of life has been a subject of elaborate studies, intense debate and various theories. These theories attempt to explain how evolution occurs. Two of these theories; Darwin’s theory of natural selection and Lamarck’s are summarized below;

1. Lamarck’s Theory of Evolution:

Lamarck’s theory is also known as the theory of use and disuse and the inheritance of acquired characteristics. His theory states that individual organisms change in response to changes in their environment.
