Second Generation Computers (1956 – 1963) | Transistors:
The second-generation computers used transistors for their circuitry. Transistors replaced vacuumA vacuum is an area of space containing little or no matter (solids, liquids, and gases). It is a space with nothing in it, not even air. More tubes and were by far superior.
It allowed computers to become smaller, faster, cheaper, more energy-efficient, and more reliable than the first generation computers. Second generation computers still relied on punched cards, for input and printouts for output.
