Gottfried Leibnitz: This was a German mathematician, who expanded the concept of the Pascal engine. He constructed a machine capable of adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing, and even calculating square roots. He designed a special gearing system to enable multiplication on Pascal’s machine.
Joseph-Marie Jacquard: In the early 19th century, a French inventor Joseph-Marie Jacquard devised a specialized type of computer: a silk loom. Jacquard’s loom used punched cards to program patterns, which helped his loom to create woven fabrics.
