In the chain of distribution, the middlemen are the wholesalers and retailers. They perform activities relating to the purchase and sale of goods from manufacturers and reselling to the final consumers or buyers. They are the link between the producers and consumers.

A wholesaler typically buys goods from a manufacturer and resells them to a retailer. Retailers acquire the goods from the wholesalers and sell them in small quantities to the consumers.

Functions of Middlemen:

i. Provision of after-sales services.
ii. Breaking the bulk.
iii. Provision of warehousing facilities.
iv. Provision of a variety of goods.
v. They give credit facilities to producers.
vi. Repackaging and branding.
vii. Provision of information to producers.
