Closed Statements:

Definition:  Statements are said to be closed statements if such statements are about well-defined things, however, they could either be true or false.

Open Statements:

Definition: These are statements that are not about well-defined things.

In logical context, questions, commands, sayings and exclamations are not considered to be statements, they are usually termed as “not applicable”.

Example 7.2.1:

For each of the following expressions, say whether it is a closed or an open statement or neither; also whether it is true or false. Please give your answer in tabular form.

A: Akure is in Nigeria

B: Accra is the capital of Libya
