Electric charge is the physical property of matter that causes it to experience a force when placed in an electromagnetic field.
Electrostatics is the study of charges at rest while the study of charges in motion is current electricity.
Types of Charges:
There are two types of charges; positive and negative charges. A body becomes positively charged if it loses electrons while it becomes negatively charged if it gains electrons.
Production of Charges:
If a plastic ruler is rubbed vigorously on the hair or on a coat and it is held near very small
pieces of paper, the papers will be attracted by the ruler.
