  • Meaning of Excretion

What is Excretion?

Excretion is the removal of waste products of metabolism from the body of an organism. These waste products include nitrogenous compounds such as ammonia, excess salts, carbon dioxide and water.

These waste products are of no use to the body and if allowed to accumulate may become poisonous to the cells.

The excretory systems include malpighian tubules, kidneys, skin, lenticels and stomata in plants.
