Refraction of Light

By the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:

  • Define refraction
  • Differentiate between incident and refracted rays and angles
  • State the laws of refraction
  • State Snell’s law of refraction
  • Find refractive index in terms of (i) real depth and apparent depth (ii) critical angle
  • Define total internal reflection of light and its application in (i) optical fibre (ii) periscope
  • Explain refraction through triangular prism
  • Define minimum deviation and refractive index of triangular prism
