A lie is a false or untrue statement, deliberately told to give a wrong impression, in order to mislead a person. People tell lies every day and get away with it. Children lie to their parents, to their teachers, and other people. Workers lie to their employers, wives cheat and lie to their husbands, and vice versa, the major question is:
Why do people lie?
People tell lies in order to:
- cover up bad behaviour.
- get rich quickly.
- deceive others.
- damage the reputation of other business organizations.
- get undue attention from others.
- cover their weaknesses.
- avoid being punished.
- get out of danger.
- preserve their self-images.
- impress people and boost one’s reputation.
