  • Homeostasis

The internal environment of an organism must be kept fairly constant for the health, growth, and efficient functioning of the body cells. The hormones and the nervous system help to control this. The internal environments include blood, lymph, and tissue fluid.

What is Homeostasis?

Homeostasis is referred to as the maintenance of a steady internal environment.

An organism should be able to adjust to changes in physical and chemical conditions of the body fluids such as temperature, pH, urea, glucose, amino acid, osmotic pressure, and amount of carbon dioxide and oxygen in the body fluids.

Homeostasis organs are the:

  • kidneys
  • liver
  • skin
  • hormonal glands

Although these organs and hormones play an important role in homeostasis, the has overall control over the homeostatic process in the body.
