The eye performs two major functions:

1. Image formation
2. Accommodation

Image Formation:

To form the image of an object on the retina, light rays from the object pass through the conjunctiva, cornea (where it is refracted), through the aqueous humour, the pupil, the lens where it is refracted again, and through vitreous humour and finally arrives at the retina where an image is formed.

Objects are clearly seen when the image is brought to focus on the retina. This means that all light that enters the eye must be brought to focus on the same point (yellow spot) on the retina, otherwise, the image will become blurred.

The image is inverted when it arrives at the retina but gets turned around by the brain i.e. the brain interprets the
