Topic Content:

  • Definition of Ration and Diet

Ration: This is the amount of feed taken by farm animals per day. It could be in wet or dry form, in pellet form, matched forms, or in block form.

Diet: This is the amount of feed given to farm animals. It is formulated to meet the basic functions such as proper growth, lactation, maintenance of pregnancy, reproduction, and egg-laying. The supplement chosen for a particular diet depends largely on the cost and availability of supply.
