(a) Basal or Energy Feeds:
These feeds are rich in carbohydrates or fats. These feeds are low in protein, fibre, and minerals. Examples of such feeds are cereals such as rice, maize, millet, and roots, and tuber crops like yams and cassava.
(b) Concentrates:
Concentrate feeds are feed mixtures or feed providing the primary dietary needs of animal-like protein, carbohydrates, fats and oils, minerals and vitamins.
These feeds are rich in nutrients but low in fibre and water content.
